The world of zombie stuff is heating up with no end in sight.
Of course there are books and movies galore, some good some bad, some even reviewed on this website.
We wanted to hit just a couple of high points.
First, Amazon.com is going to follow Netflix into the original programming arena and has announced that they are shooting a pilot based on the movie Zombieland. If it goes well they intend to turn it into a series available through Amazon Prime.
According to TechCrunch, the series is being handles by the team that created the original movie. This includes "writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The Joe Schmo Show), and producer Gavin Polone (Gilmore Girls, Curb Your Enthusiasm). Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) is directing. The role of Tallahassee will be played by Kirk Ward (The Island), Maiara Walsh (Desperate Housewives, Switched at Birth) is cast as Wichita, Tyler Ross (Milkshake) will play Columbus, and Izabela Vidovic has the part of Little Rock."
Great hopes for this one!
In other news, and not really zombie related but certainly the basis for a number of horror or zombie films, The University of Texas Mainland Branch Lab at Galveston announced that "a vial containing a potentially deadly virus" has gone missing from a secure biomedical facility on the island. Let's watch the news for more on this but if anything radioactive comes up missing from there we know there's going to be problems.
Spoiler Warning: The Walking Dead
Of course, most horror fans are glued to their television on Sunday night for the latest episode of The Walking Dead. There is only one more episode left this season, but the last one ended with a twist. I didn't think Merle would be with us long but with him turning into a zombie and Darrel having to dispose of him it was a very sad yet macho next to the last episode of the season. Twitter was burning up as this was happening.
It will be interesting to see what happens next week.
That's it for now.
